Georgetown's Red Poppy Festival was awarded the best promotional event in the state at last week's conference of the Texas Downtown Association, held in San Angelo. "I was especially impressed by how well Georgetown promotes this event," said Bob Ray Sanders, columnist and editor for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and awards judge for the annual competition. A brief presentation about the award will be made at Tuesday's City Council meeting, which starts at 6 p.m. on November 28 at the Council Chamber and Court Building at 101 E. Seventh Street.
